In May of 2022 Sony Music Japan began overseeing the production of the multinational VTuber production agency PRISM Project. In a move to help elevate the project’s vision, Sony Music Entertainment (Japan) combined with its expertise in anime production, music production, voice actor/artist management, and merchandising partnered with the studio to further grow the project in the virtual space.
Originally Launched in 2021, PRISM Project aimed to push the boundaries of the virtual talent space by providing growth and development opportunities in the industry today.
Recently under Sony’s management, the project has opened auditions for new global talents to join the initiative. Currently holding a roster of 12 VTubers the project hopes to expand the roster to reflect a more diverse fan base. The auditions are open to all content creators from the age of 18 and above, of any gender identity, and must be able to conduct streaming content in English.
The auditions are open for residents of the United States, Japan, Canada, Mexico, United Kingdom, Germany, France, Italy, Spain, Australia, New Zealand, Brazil, Peru, Taiwan, Hong Kong, Macao, Republic of Korea, Thailand, Malaysia, and Singapore.
If selected, participants will have their VTuber persona professionally crafted. Participants will work with popular, talented illustrators from Japan and around the world, and will be provided with a unique character model that reflects the participants persona. Technical and streaming equipment assistance based on individual needs will be provided to ensure high-quality live streams and content. Industry-leading management will be provided for participants. A production team will work closely to plan, develop, promote, and deliver creative content to audiences worldwide, including support for content creation, music production, event appearances, and international streaming opportunities on regional platforms like bilibili. Lastly, As a part of the Sony Music Entertainment (Japan) Inc. virtual talent management family, PRISM Agents are signed to Sony Music talent management contracts, just like any other Sony Music talent. Sony will work with talent to develop music, live performances, merchandising, voice acting, and other career goals to help you achieve any goals participants can dream of as professional talent. Applicants will have to commit to conducting virtual talent activities for a minimum of one year, with an expected minimum of four live streams per week.
Application Requirements are as follows:
Applicants must be 18 years of age or older.
Applicants of all gender identities are welcome.
Successful applicants must be able to conduct their streaming content primarily in English. Japanese and other language skills are welcome.
Applicants must reside in one of the following countries/regions: United States, Japan, Canada, Mexico, United Kingdom, Germany, France, Italy, Spain, Australia, New Zealand, Brazil, Peru, Taiwan, Hong Kong, Macao, Republic of Korea, Thailand, Malaysia, or Singapore.
Applicants must be able to participate in the audition process from initial document submission and screening to final interviews.
If selected, applicants must be able to commit to conducting virtual talent activities for a minimum of one (1) year, with an expected minimum of four (4) live streams per week.
Applicants should have a strong desire to further their careers as professional virtual talents, to pursue streaming as virtual YouTubers (VTubers), and have an interest in pursuing other related talent activities under a professional management team with industry-leading experience.
